Lack of support for date/time info

#441

Post by domi »

All log files are date-stamped 01.01.2011 00:01. I understand this is stated in the Instructions for use booklet:

The roaster does not date the log files; instead it gives them sequential numbers. This makes it easy to keep the files in order, but if you need to record the actual roast date you must include it in the tasting notes.

It feels odd that a device as sophisticated as the Nano 7 is not capable of storing a date and time set by the user, given that it can remember a bunch of other things. Are there really no plans to make it date-aware?

Date awareness will come with the Bluetooth module that we are developing. This module will plug in to the USB port. We have thought about a separate date upgrade, but we figure that most people who need that will want the Bluetooth connectivity as well.

Sounds great! Does it mean logs will be stored on whatever device the Nano 7 is connected to via Bluetooth? Any tentative schedule for the release of that feature?

USB struggles have been real since they first were made... 🤓

Another reason to look forward to bluetooth. 😁
